Bartlet Train Station Museum
The Bartlett Railroad restoration project in Bartlett, IL was a special project for Walter Daniels. Over 135 years had taken its toll on the original depot and we were brought in to replicate the original design without compromising the structure.
New windows, doors and wood siding were provided on the 1100 sq foot exterior. The interior was gutted uncovering the original ticket window dating back to the late 1800s, hidden inside one of the original walls. As the original depot was built in 1873 directly on dirt, hydraulic jacks carefully lifted the depot from its footings. A bobcat and heavy-duty chain were used to gently move the depot about 100 feet to the west, to lay the new foundation with steel-beam reinforcements. New HVAC and ductwork were installed beneath the foundation. The Depot was then placed on its new foundation and fully restored to its original luster.
